Outside Machinist
What You’ll Do:
Remove, repair, overhaul, install, and align main propulsion machinery and auxiliary equipment
, including:
- Compressors, condensers, pumps, and forced draft blowers
- Cargo handling machinery, anchor gear, cranes, and davits
- Elevators, conveyors, firefighting systems, and more
Install and repair foundations for ship machinery and major components of ship armament.
Test and inspect installed machinery and equipment during dock and sea trials.
Use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height/depth gauges
, and assist with optical equipment.
Work from blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to execute high-quality installations and repairs.

Requirements:- Minimum 3+ years of shipyard experience on ABS/NAVSEA vessels
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain a DBIDS badge
- Willingness to work day shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
