ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN III

This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re‑modernization position, working within shipyards and dry docks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will work in varying temperatures—high heat in summer and cold in winter—performing the following tasks:

  • Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment and related devices.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Modifies circuitry to improve performance.
  • Provides recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.
  • Provides operation and maintenance instruction to customer personnel.
  • Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation.
  • Assists engineering staff in determining and solving equipment design problems.
  • May perform quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians.
  • May provide work leadership to less‑experienced technicians.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Education:

    Associate of Arts or Associate of Science.
  • Required Experience:

    3+ years of related experience.
  • Location:

    On customer site.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Job Qualifications
  • Skills:

    Blueprints, electrical installations, shipyards.
  • Certifications:

    Cableway Certified, Cableway Inspector, Connector Certified Modular, COAX, Multi‑Pin Connector Fabricator and Inspector, WAF Tag‑out qualified.
  • Experience:

    3+ years of related experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
