Job Description
This position is responsible for the design, installation, and field support of physical security systems infrastructure and other integrated devices. It plays a critical part in supporting Capital Projects, Renovations, department requests, and the ongoing operational performance of the systems.
Knowledge, skills and abilities- Strong understanding of cabling infrastructure, device integration, and field installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction documents.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving hardware and infrastructure issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and maintain detailed documentation.
- Capable of working independently and within a team environment.

Level and type of experience- Solid experience in infrastructure engineering or physical security systems.
- Working experience with access control and video surveillance technologies.
- Experience in higher education or large-scale campus environments.
- Certifications or training in cabling systems or physical security technologies.
This is a Norfolk based position on the main campus, working a traditional 40‑hour work week. On‑call duties are part of the position. This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint‑based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate. This position is considered essential personnel and may be subject to working during university closings.
Annual Salary/Hourly RateSalary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $75,423.
