Experienced Shop Foreman
Join our team as an Experienced Shop Foreman at Norfolk Truck Center.
Location:
736 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA.
The main responsibility of the position is to ensure that repairs are completed correctly, efficiently, and safely by qualified technicians, while maintaining a consistently high level of customer service in the service department.

- Ensure all repairs are assigned to technicians properly trained for the specific task, considering employee competence and shop capacity.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Monitor repair progress and address deviations in completion time.
- Keep repairs timely and within budget, maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical support to technicians as needed.
- Monitor shop conditions, including cleanliness, safety, and equipment status.
- Track technicians’ daily productivity and shop production to encourage continuous improvement.
- Maintain open communication with management regarding job status, updates, and changes.
- Open the shop before technician arrival and be the last to leave, ensuring all technicians have exited.
- Maintain high‑quality service repairs and minimize comebacks through periodic spot checks of completed jobs.
- Interact with service advisors for planning repair orders, ensuring work in progress meets expectations.
- Ensure repairs are charged out correctly.
- Maintain proper record of all repair order documents, ensuring none are missing and all are processed correctly.
- Report problems to the Service Manager and/or Fixed Operations Director.
- Ensure proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
- Stay informed about new equipment and tools, recommending purchases when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Understand and stay current with federal, state, and local regulations affecting service operations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right‑to‑Know).
- Represent Norfolk Truck Center professionally—tech uniforms will be provided.
- Assist technicians in developing their skills.
- Promote harmony and teamwork within the department and with other departments.
- Lead and mentor technicians, helping them advance their careers.
- Foster cooperation and teamwork among technicians and support staff.
- 3+ years of experience in a diesel truck shop.
- 3+ years in a leadership role or service dispatch role.
- Strong customer service and leadership qualities.
- Exceptional problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
- Driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
- Proficient with computers and basic office applications.
- Familiarity with dealership management software (e.g., CDK) preferred.
