You like solving mechanical problems where steel, precision, and safety meet.
You read drawings with confidence and can turn specs into clean, accurate work.
You’re comfortable in tanks, voids, and tight spaces—and you don’t miss the details.
What you’ll doBack up boilermakers on removal, fabrication, repair, and installation of ship structures.
Repair tanks, foundations, hatches, bulkheads, and related shipboard mechanisms.
Read/interpret blueprints, sketches, and TWDs to plan work.
Operate hand/power tools, grinders, air tools, and cutting torches safely and effectively.
Fit up, align, and secure steel components and assemblies.
Prep surfaces for cutting, welding, and installation.
Measure and lay out using tape, level, square, and precision instruments.
Remove and replace damaged metal structures and equipment.
Follow OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety requirements; maintain housekeeping standards.
Hit production goals and support on-time project completion.
What you bring2+ years in shipyard, industrial, or heavy mechanical settings (preferred).Hands-on support experience with boilermakers, shipfitters, welders, or structural teams (strong plus).Blueprint/spec reading skills; knowledge of ship repair procedures and maritime safety.
Comfort with common yard tools and equipment.
Quality-first mindset and dependable attendance with reliable transportation.
Physical realities
Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Climb, work at heights, and access confined spaces.
Stand, kneel, crouch, and bend for long periods in varied weather.
Wear full PPE; respirator use when required.
Compliance & Access Must be eligible to obtain and maintain shipyard access credentials (DBIDS preferred).Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Bonus:
Shipyard safety certifications.
Even better if you haveU.S. Navy ship repair experience.
Time aboard carriers, subs, destroyers, amphib ships, or commercial vessels.
Knowledge of NAVSEA standards and military specs.
Fire Watch, OSHA 10 Maritime, or Confined Space credentials.
