Essential functions include but are not limited to:
* Supervises electrician IIIs and electrician IIs by assigning work orders, answering code questions, verifying work is completed correctly, lending assistance and expertise as needed, performing evaluations, taking corrective and/or disciplinary actions as needed, and other supervisory duties.
* Performs safety checks of work being performed to ensure compliance with OSHA mandates and city policies including safety and conduct. Trains personnel in the correct and safe ways to conduct their job duties and ensure that all other city policies are adhered to.
* Performs administrative duties by entering information into various computer systems, reading and responding to email, answering telephone calls and emergency calls, and attending meetings.
* Plans and administrates various electrical projects by planning and estimating work, purchasing materials, and providing assistance as needed.
* Performs troubleshooting and repair of complex electrical control systems.
* Works with our IT department to assist with tying in new electrical systems to plant SCADA systems.
* Works with our Electronic Technicians to assist with diagnostics and repairs.
* Oversees maintenance and repairs of 4160-volt medium voltage motor controls, variable frequency drives, breakers, switch gear and motors.
* Works with our own city engineers and various engineering firms assisting in design and installation of large facility upgrades or new constructed facilities. Attend progress meetings for those projects. Works with the various contractors and subcontractors during construction to work out details of new electrical installations. Perform inspections of newly constructed facilities or upgraded existing facilities to ensure that the work meets the current National Electric Code and the plans and specifications of the contract then provides a list of items that need to be corrected.
* Works with the city's purchasing department to develop maintenance contracts for the department of utilities.
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
Four years experience.
The desired candidate will possess 5 years of experience in heavy industrial electrical installation and maintenance including experience with variable frequency drives from 120-volt to 4160-volt and electrical equipment up to 4160-volt medium voltage.
* Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.
* State Certification as Master Electrician

Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday, 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM
This position is designated as an Essential position which means you may be required to work extended, rotating, after hours, nights and/or weekends in response to emergencies and severe weather.
