Job Overview:
The successful candidate will lead project management, installations, repair, and modernization initiatives onboard ships for the Engineering Department and Fleet Services Group.
Essential duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Monitors and controls activities at job sites, office, and/or onboard vessels.
- Ensures projects/initiatives progress as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to, inspecting construction sites daily and working with contractors to schedule deliveries.
- Applies expertise in NAVSEA Standard Items, 9090‑310 Technical Specifications, and NSTM standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Plans and accomplishes objectives using judgment and experience.
- Collaborates with Senior Management, Program Managers, and Project Leads on surface and submarine alteration, repair, or fleet modernization projects.
- Interfaces with clients and customers regarding tasking.
- Completes duties outside the specialty when necessary to complete work assignments.
Requirements:
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Target experience of five (5) years in design, installation, testing, and/or repair of ships and ship systems aboard U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, and/or U.S. Coast Guard ships.
- Direct experience in ship repair and installation of Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems and equipment on surface ships and submarines.
- Ability to perform detailed ship checks involving data collection for design modifications to support system changes.
- Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, installation specifications, and NAVSEA Standard Items.
- Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance.
- Must have the ability to obtain base access and security credentials.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes (minimum 30 lbs).
- Ability to work on and climb ladders, in extreme temperatures, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
- Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.
- U.S. citizenship only (export control regulations).

- Can work independently and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to open‑air environments, including noise, heat, and cold.
- Required to visit project sites aboard ships and rigs, both onshore and offshore.
- Must wear PPE as required (hearing, eye, head, hand protection).
- Site visits may involve standing, bending, crouching, and climbing.
- Exposure to sound levels exceeding 100 decibels.
- Requires adequate visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and night vision.
- May work in confined spaces with limited ventilation.
- Requires prolonged periods of sedentary or standing work.
- May operate machinery, power tools, and heavy equipment.
- Effective verbal communication is essential.
- Frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. or more, depending on tasks.
