Job Title
HVAC Install/Repair Senior Tech – HVAC/Mechanical
Job OverviewTo maintain all boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and all associated equipment at journeyman level, and to operate the energy management control system efficiently.
Responsibilities- Maintain boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and associated equipment.
- Operate energy management control system.
- Serve as essential personnel for emergency closings.
- Be on call for after‑hours calls, responding within fifteen (15) minutes while off site.
- Carry ODU cell phone on a rotational basis.
Skills and Abilities
- Extensive working knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations.
- Ability to repair and perform maintenance on institutional‑type equipment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Problem‑solving skills with chillers, boilers, heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Journeyman mechanical license preferred.
- Completion of refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests.
- Certified for Type Universal.

Experience- Extensive heating, ventilating, air conditioning and boiler equipment repair and maintenance experience.
- Considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial‑type HVAC equipment at different sites.
- Some heating, air conditioning and boiler trade school and/or working experience.
- Master mechanical license, considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial‑type HVAC equipment, heating, air conditioning and/or boiler trade school; some supervisor experience.
- In‑person reporting position; not eligible for telework.
- Essential personnel subject to working during university closings.
- Open until filled recruitment; may close after the five‑day required posting period if a suitable pool of applicants is generated.
