Job Title

HVAC Install/Repair Senior Tech – HVAC/Mechanical

To maintain all boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and all associated equipment at journeyman level, and to operate the energy management control system efficiently.

• Maintain boilers, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration system and associated equipment.
• Operate energy management control system.
• Serve as essential personnel for emergency closings.
• Be on call for after‑hours calls, responding within fifteen (15) minutes while off site.
• Carry ODU cell phone on a rotational basis.

• Extensive working knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations.
• Ability to repair and perform maintenance on institutional‑type equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Problem‑solving skills with chillers, boilers, heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment.

• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Journeyman mechanical license preferred.
• Completion of refrigerant transition and recovery course and tests.
• Certified for Type Universal.

• Extensive heating, ventilating, air conditioning and boiler equipment repair and maintenance experience.
• Considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial‑type HVAC equipment at different sites.
• Some heating, air conditioning and boiler trade school and/or working experience.
• Master mechanical license, considerable experience installing and performing maintenance and repair on commercial‑type HVAC equipment, heating, air conditioning and/or boiler trade school; some supervisor experience.

• In‑person reporting position; not eligible for telework.
• Essential personnel subject to working during university closings.
• Open until filled recruitment; may close after the five‑day required posting period if a suitable pool of applicants is generated.
