Outside Machinist Norfolk VA

We are seeking experienced Outside Machinists for our Norfolk, Virginia location to perform mechanical overhaul, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of marine machinery, engines, and equipment in a shipyard environment.

The Outside Machinist will work from schematics, technical manuals, drawings, specifications, and manufacturer documentation to inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, adjust, align, install, and test marine mechanical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to safely perform work in a demanding shipyard environment.

Required Qualifications:

• U.S Citizenship required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as an Outside Machinist
• Demonstrated experience working with marine machinery, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment.
• Must be able to pass an Outside Machinist hands on and written assessment if required.

• Must be available and willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, overtime, and varying schedules as required.
• Must be comfortable and capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and in other challenging shipyard environments.
• Must be physically capable of frequent carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, bending, and performing repetitive manual tasks.
• Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to safely perform assigned duties, recognize warning signals, and identify hazards.
• Must maintain a high level of safety awareness and consistently follow company, shipyard, OSHA, and customer safety requirements.
• Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
