Vocational Specialist
Join Merakey's extraordinary team as a Vocational Specialist for our Assertive Community Team (ACT). In this role, you will support individuals in achieving real-world experiences, including employment and community participation, by:
- Coordinating vocational services for all individuals served by the ACT team.
- Assisting individuals in securing employment, supporting job applications, and providing interview preparation.
- Conducting vocational assessments and assisting individuals in obtaining education or training for employment.
- Developing a network of employers open to working with individuals with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).
- Educating and supporting families while advocating for the rights and preferences of individuals served.
Rate: $25.25/hour + mileage reimbursement
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver recovery-based, person-centered services that align with individual goals.
- Collaborate with individuals and family members to develop goal plans.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Use the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model to motivate clients toward competitive employment, rapid job searching, job development, job coaching, and benefits education/support.
- Conduct weekly home visits in clients' residences or community settings, using personal vehicles for transportation and community-based tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in human service field.
- Registered QMHP in Virginia required.
- Valid Driver's License. Travel is necessary to offer support across Tidewater region.
- Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
