Position: Recovery Coordinator (HR4530)

Recovery Coordinator (HR4530)

The Student Health Services Department at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the part-time Recovery Coordinator position. The Recovery Coordinator leads the institutions trauma-informed recovery efforts following a campus critical incident. This role ensures a sustained, compassionate, and structured response supporting students, faculty, and staff across multiple phases of recoveryfrom summer stabilization through the one-year anniversary. The Coordinator collaborates across divisions to implement mental health supports, training, communication strategies, and community rebuilding initiatives aligned with best practices in trauma-informed care and culturally responsive service delivery.

This position may require occasional evening and weekend programming.

Comprehensive demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care principles

Required Qualifications
:
Considerable oral and written communication skills Considerable collaboration, communication, and organizational skills High-contact role requiring discretion, emotional awareness, and ability to work in a high-intensity environment. Considerable experience working with diverse and various stakeholder groups Considerable experience in crisis response, student support services, or program coordination

Additional Considerations
:
Some experience in higher education settings. Considerable experience in mental health programming, emergency response, or behavioral intervention teams

Some experience in grant management.

Conditions of Employment: This is a temporary position with anticipated employment from July 2026 through April 2027. The position will work a variable schedule based on program needs. Hours are expected to fluctuate throughout the project, ranging from 10 to 29 hours per week
. Total anticipated hours for the duration of the position are 800 hours
.

The successful candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet project deadlines and program requirements. Hourly (wage) employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1500 hours in total in the May 1 April 30 period. This position does not have health insurance, retirement, or leave.
This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
