Job Description

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Software Engineer 3 support software development across the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) product line, including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD. As part of the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Software Engineering team, this engineer contributes to the design, implementation, testing, and sustainment of modeling and simulation systems that enable Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Fleet training.

This position is eligible for hybrid work.

This role involves developing and maintaining robust, scalable software; integrating simulation systems across distributed architectures; and collaborating with developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to meet Navy training objectives. The Software Engineer 3 works under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions that contribute to successful project and program execution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and distribute simulation systems containing logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Contribute to the enhancement, integration, and sustainment of NTB products including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD.
  • Perform development on Red Hat Linux platforms using Java, JavaScript (ExtJS/Vue), shell scripting, and modern IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse.
  • Work with technical leads and end users to implement maintainable, effective, and secure software capabilities aligned with Fleet training requirements.
  • Apply modeling and simulation techniques and domain protocols, including TENA, HLA, and DIS, to support distributed training systems.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with hardware/system designers to support the planning and development of electronic data processing systems.
