Position SummaryAn Equipment Coordinator (Empty Vessel) manages acquisition, maintenance, distribution, and inventory of empty vessels, ensuring equipment is operational, available, and compliant with safety standards. Responsibilities include collaborating with departments to identify needs, source equipment, negotiate contracts, manage inventory, and provide training and support.
Responsibilities- Maintain inventory levels at depots and terminals and compare inventory to booking levels to meet export demands.
- Confirm and release equipment at depots and terminals in corresponding systems so customers can pick up and return equipment for export bookings.
- Reduce idle time by communicating with depots, terminals, port operations, and M&R to keep fluid inventory and minimize terminal storage.
- Process payment requests for the trucking community and create work orders for container drays and chassis splits.
- Maximize off-hire and on-hire programs by coordinating with leasing companies and HO Logistics to return or pick up equipment, rebill misuses, and negotiate subleasing with other shipping lines.
- Provide immediate problem resolution for internal and external customers, strategizing solutions to ensure excellent service.
- Propose vessel load‑back counts, targeting idles, projected volumes, and damaged units, and assist with load‑back preparation and planning.
- Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Access.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the shipping industry and related operations.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1‑3 years of general experience; no industry experience required.
- Base salary of $62,000 per year, with variations based on qualifications and location.
