Assistant​/Associate Professor, Elementary Education

Summary:

The Department of Teacher Education and Leadership in the College of Education, Humanities, and Behavior Sciences at Alabama A & M University seeks one (1) faculty-tenure track member to teach Elementary Education courses. The position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position. The successful candidate will meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated site-based locations (mornings, afternoons, & evenings), and teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per academic semester.

Interested candidates should submit credentials for evaluation. The rank and tenure-status of position is negotiable based on qualifications. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2025

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Teaches graduate and undergraduate Elementary education courses, in both face-to- face and onlineenvironments.

* Teaches graduate and undergraduate foundation courses, in both face-to-face and online environments.

* Recruits and advisesstudents.

* Participates in research projects.

* Participates in continuous program improvement as required by the Alabama State Department of Education andCAEP

* Serves as a mentor to graduate and undergraduate students.

* Conducts an active research/publicationagenda.

* Provides service to the university, community andprofession.

* Serve on doctoral committees and/or chairing doctoraldissertations.

* Demonstrate teacher education competencies including those tied to creatingconstructive and coherent learning environments, modeling professional expectations, modeling high- quality practices, demonstrating a culture of feedback, and promoting principles of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.

* Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum

Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):

* Doctorate in Elementary Education or related field

* At least three (3) years of teaching experience in P-12schools

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Knowledge of and the ability to model current teacher education competencies including creating constructive and coherent learning environments, modeling professional expectations, modeling high-quality practices, demonstrating a culture of feedback, and promoting principles of diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice.

* Knowledge of recruitment and advising procedures

* Knowledge of grant writing and research development

* Demonstrate excellence in teaching at the university level

* Evidence of scholarly productivity in the form of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Demonstrate skills in teaching blended or online classes

* Ability to work collaboratively with university and public school colleagues withina diverse environment

* Ability to contribute to academic program development and improvement
