Special Education Teacher

Illinois State University is hiring a Special Education Teacher for the HILIA Program. The teacher will provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, deaf/hard of hearing challenges, and learning or behavioral needs, manage a caseload, develop lesson plans, and collaborate with special and general education teams to support students with IEPs.

• Provide direct services and instruction to students with visual, hearing, learning, and behavioral impairments
• Create lesson plans and manage a caseload of students
• Collaborate with special education and general education colleagues
• Use skills in Braille, assistive technology, and sign language (preferred)
• Implement specially designed instruction, classroom accommodations, and behavior strategies
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Professional Educator License
• Salary range from $42,417.50 to $84,000 depending on experience and degree
• Work Monday through Friday with occasional evening or weekend hours
• Includes university benefits such as health, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition waivers
• Position is a one-year appointment with a possible extension based on enrollment and program needs
