The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is in search of a pool of qualified persons interested in the supervision of teacher candidates in World Language education (French, German, and Spanish). Supervisors are needed in Central Illinois and the Chicagoland area.
This position involves mentoring teacher candidates in their semester-long student teaching internship. The university supervisor is a liaison between ISU and school district personnel, primarily the cooperating teacher. The supervisor is responsible for observing the student teacher on-site and providing formal and informal assessments of the teacher candidate’s teaching performance, which requires multiple (3–5) on-site observations with brief post-conference meetings. A small number of visits to Illinois State University in Normal, IL during the academic year are also required.
In addition to regular online communication throughout the semester, supervisors assess teacher candidates’ online assignments and collaborate with the cooperating teacher and ISU faculty in assessing the professional growth and determining the final grade for teacher candidates.
