Overview

Illinois State University is hiring a Career Advisor to support a diverse community of students and alumni in exploring meaningful career paths. The role involves delivering inclusive advising, presentations, and programs that enhance career readiness, professional skills, and lifelong development while collaborating with academic departments and representing Career Services at various events.

• Deliver individual and group career advising sessions that align with students' values, interests, and goals.
• Assist with career development topics including résumé preparation, interview techniques, and job search strategies.
• Serve as liaison to multiple academic departments and collaborate on academic and career initiatives.
• Plan and support career programs, fairs, and events hosted by Career Services.
• Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication and presentation abilities, and demonstrated advising experience with diverse college populations.
• Minimum qualifications:
  
  bachelor s degree and one year of relevant advising or counseling experience; master s degree may substitute for experience.
• Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in counseling or related fields, knowledge of STEM careers, and experience with career assessment tools.
• Salary is $4,223 per month.
• Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• Responsible for guiding students through career development processes and collaborating effectively in a team environment.
