Job Summary

The Paraprofessional provides support for students in the HILIA program at Thomas Metcalf School. This position is subject to academic break layoff, typically mid‑May through mid‑August.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$15.18 - $19.73 per hour

Work Hours

7:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday

Required Qualifications

Possession of a valid Paraprofessional Educator’s License with Stipulations Endorsement as required by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Preferred Qualifications

Skill in signing and/or interpreting and ability to model appropriate use of language and speech when communicating.

Past experience working with students with hearing loss.

Knowledge of listening, language, and speech development.

Experience working with equipment to facilitate hearing.

Willingness to be flexible with work assignments and schedule.

Ability to transition quickly between classrooms throughout the building in a timely manner.

Functional Expectations

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to perform occasional lifting of 50-150 pounds.

Must have good reflexes.

Ability to effectively communicate on a daily basis.
