The Coordinator of World Languages Teacher Education provides intellectual, pedagogical, and administrative leadership for the Department's World Languages Teacher Education program. The Coordinator provides mentoring, programming, and professional development for Teacher Education majors leading up to and through their Student Teaching experience. The Coordinator supervises up to four student teachers or teaches one class each semester unless otherwise arranged with the Chairperson.

• MA or Ph.D. or other terminal degree (e.g., Ed.D.) in World Languages Education or a closely related field.
• Evidence of effective teaching in a public school setting for a minimum of five years.
• Native or near-native proficiency in French, German, or Spanish
• Excellent interpersonal communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of educational initiatives including teacher evaluation and culturally responsive teaching.
• Ability to identify, manage, and analyze programmatic data for the purposes of written reporting and presentation.
• Ability to work with considerable latitude and independence of action.
• Ability to work effectively and in a professional manner with students, staff, and faculty.
• Ability to implement program policies consistently and equitably.
• Ability to create informational reports about student and instructor activities.
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to travel within the state of Illinois.

• Native or near-native proficiency in French, German, or Spanish and knowledge of an additional language (French, German, and/or Spanish) preferred.
• Knowledge of current best practices teaching heritage language learners.
• Experience in leadership roles, preferably in the field of education.

Core work hours require availability during the school day for student teacher observations and other critical meetings. Occasional evening or weekend hours as business need dictates.

• Remain at a workstation for extended periods
• Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
• Effectively communicate on a daily basis
