Illinois State University is hiring a Substitute Teacher for Thomas Metcalf School to step in for the regular classroom teacher on a daily-rate basis at Metcalf, the university's PreK-8 laboratory school of 400+ students. Assignments are drawn from an open recruitment running August 2025 through July 2026, and each day worked is paid individually rather than on a set schedule.
Highlights- Provide academic classroom instruction for PreK-8 students during a regular teacher's absence
- Assignments come through an open recruitment pool running August 2025 to July 2026
- Requires a bachelor's degree
- Requires a valid Illinois teaching certificate or valid Illinois substitute teaching certificate
- Pays $112.50 per day
- Includes time away from work for eligible employees and the option to participate in the University's 403(b) Plan
- Subject to a criminal background investigation before work can begin
