University Supervisor in Secondary History and Social Science Education

Illinois State University is hiring a University Supervisor in Secondary History and Social Science Education to guide secondary teacher candidates through their student teaching internships. The supervisor observes each teacher candidate on-site, delivers a formal assessment of their teaching performance, and acts as the liaison between the university and the cooperating teacher. Openings are anticipated throughout the academic year in both Central Illinois and the Chicagoland area.

• Guide secondary teacher candidates in History and Social Science education through their student teaching internships.
• Act as the liaison between Illinois State University and school district personnel, primarily the cooperating teacher.
• Conduct multiple on-site observations with brief post-conference meetings.
• Make a small number of required visits to campus in Normal, IL during the academic year.
• Keep up regular online communication and review teacher candidates’ online reflections throughout the semester.
• Collaborate with the cooperating teacher and ISU faculty in determining each teacher candidate’s final grade.
• Hold a master’s degree in teaching or a relevant academic field.
• Bring at least three years of history or social science classroom teaching experience in a middle or high school setting.
• Demonstrate oral proficiency in English, as required by state law.
• Compensation is $252 per month per student supervised, plus mileage reimbursement.
