RoleSummary:
As a Sustaining Reliability Laboratory Technician – Battery working at the client's Normal, Illinois test facility, you’ll work with the Sustaining Reliability team to build, maintain, and operate laboratories for testing automotive battery packs, electrified powertrain systems, electric vehicle systems, and component reliability.
Responsibilities:- Work collaboratively with test engineers to install, configure, and maintain test properties across a variety of complex powertrain test equipment.
- Execute tests effectively that result in minimal test equipment downtime.
- Troubleshoot test failures and report findings to test engineers.
- Proactively complete highest priority tasks while tests are ongoing.
- Fabricate test fixtures and instrumentation using a variety of materials.
- Disassemble and reassemble production and prototype hardware.
- Provide guidance to engineers.
- Create electronic standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train other team members to perform procedures in a standardized format.
- Perform routine maintenance on test equipment.
- Develop a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.
- Attend daily stand‑up and team meetings on time.
- Document daily work electronically.
- Work in a team environment and communicate with engineers and fellow technicians.
- Possess excellent time‑management skills.
- Be dependable to work scheduled hours.
- Be willing to work off‑shifts when required.
- Domain knowledge of laboratory testing equipment (associate’s degree in a technology field or relevant experience, or at least 2+ years of technical experience).
- Knowledge of instrumentation and data collection.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Proficiency in writing clear standard operating procedures.
- Understanding of workplace safety concepts.
- Knowledge of low voltage electronics.
- Knowledge of high‑voltage battery systems.
- Possession of high‑voltage battery certifications.
- Knowledge of reliability testing.
- Familiarity with test cells.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and cranes.
- Work collaboratively with test engineers to install, configure, and maintain test properties across a variety of complex powertrain test equipment.
- Proactively complete highest priority tasks by scheduled due dates while tests are ongoing.
- Develop a clean, organized, and efficient working environment.
