Position: Robotics Engineer - Automation Integration (FANUC & NACHI)

Akkodis is seeking Robotics Engineer – Automation Integration (FANUC & NACHI) role is a Long-Term Contract an onsite position at Normal, IL and Toledo, OH (Onsite)

Pay Range: $52-$57/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Position Summary

Client's is seeking a highly skilled Robotics Engineer with deep expertise in FANUC and NACHI robots to lead automation projects from concept through production launch. This individual will design, integrate, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic systems supporting EV manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead robotic automation projects from design through installation, commissioning, and production support.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize FANUC and NACHI robots for assembly, material handling, welding, and automated manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate robots with PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, safety systems, and MES platforms.
  • Develop robot standards, process documentation, FAT/SAT protocols, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support production launches, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in uptime, cycle time, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, RIA, and machine safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industrial robotics experience in automotive, EV, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
  • FANUC robot programming and commissioning
  • NACHI robot programming and troubleshooting
  • PLC-controlled automation systems
  • Proven ability to lead robotic cell integration from greenfield design through production launch.
  • Experience with FAT, SAT, equipment validation, and production ramp-up support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EV or automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with body shop, battery, or general assembly automation.
  • FANUC Roboguide and offline simulation experience.
  • Experience with Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
  • Knowledge of OEE, MTTR, root cause analysis, and manufacturing KPIs.
Ideal Candidate

A hands-on automation expert who can independently architect and deliver robotic manufacturing solutions from scratch, work effectively with integrators and suppliers, and provide technical leadership during launch and high-volume production operations.
