The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs routine and critical respiratory care procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Manager and Medical Director. Responsible for performance and competency of care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Work Experience:
- Effectively evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans.
- Accurately introduce, administer, and chart the effects of routine respiratory therapy and medication administration.
- Accurately set up, maintain, and chart the usage of oxygen therapy, aerosol/humidity therapy, and ventilator therapy.
- Provide ventilator support and airway management to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Perform arterial blood gas and capillary blood gas analysis (following Medical Director approval).
- Participate and perform blood gas quality controls per regulatory standards.
- Participate in blood gas proficiency studies.
- May be trained in endotracheal intubation and arterial line insertion.
- May take a charge role.
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients on respiratory care services.
- Accurately chart on the respiratory flow sheets in the EMR and on the care plans and charge accurately in the EMR.
- Process and maintain respiratory equipment.
- Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units and in the Emergency department.
- Evaluate patients for advanced respiratory care therapy for patients in ICUs.
- Participate on all transport teams (NICU, PEDS and Adult).
- Obtain and analyze blood gases (arterial, venous, capillary).
- Assist cleaning of respiratory care related equipment.
- Assist with stocking respiratory care related supplies on the inpatient care units.
The compensation range for this position is $31.95 per hour - $54.95 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
