Overview
The Medical Assistant I maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families.
Qualifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days, American Heart Association (AHA)
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Relevant work experience
- Perform a variety of routine direct patient care duties to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Maintain patient care environment and supplies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Room patients:
Collect pertinent information regarding chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit. - Maintain department specific competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
- Prepare patient and supplies for department specific procedures.
- Maintain par levels and order supplies for exam and procedure rooms.
- Assist patients and department with procedure setup.
- Assist with oncology procedures, including preparing slides for cytology.
- Assist with transporting patients to other departments in the Cancer Institute.
- Make pre-procedure calls to review appointment instructions.
- Keep exam rooms and procedural areas stocked with the necessary supplies.
The compensation range for this position is $18.33 per hour - $29.69 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
