Overview

The Exercise Physiologist performs a variety of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic exams and monitors inpatient and outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Qualifications
  • Certification:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days (American Heart Association)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Work experience in cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation
Responsibilities
  • Provide care including development, implementation, and evaluation of exercise programs for cardiac and pulmonary patients in phases II and III of cardiac rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with the patient’s care team to ensure services are consistent with post‑operative and post‑hospitalization care.
  • Evaluate and revise the plan of care as needed in collaboration with RN and physician.
  • Develop and advance the patient’s exercise program based on physiological and electrocardiographic response to exercise.
  • Provide health education and teaching for patients and families.
  • Complete required feedback and communication to patient and healthcare team, including EMR documentation and reports concerning education, exercise progression, treatment, and monitored physiological and vital responses.
  • Assist with scheduling and billing of cardiac rehab services.
  • Precept nursing, exercise physiology, and nutrition students as assigned to the program.
  • Conduct stress testing (as needed) and interpret clinical data, seeking medical evaluation when appropriate.
  • Conduct initial patient appointments, risk factor assessments, and coordinate care plans for outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehab (phases II and III).
  • Coordinate patient exercise class schedules, monitor patients on telemetry during exercise sessions, and lead patients through exercise prescriptions.
  • Assist patients with exercise equipment and provide education to support risk factor modification.
  • Report adverse events to ordering providers.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $23.43 per hour – $39.13 per hour, representing a good faith minimum and maximum range at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
