- Treat patients of all ages and serve as a role model in professional service delivery
- Follow the therapist’s plan of care
- Adjust treatment based on patient response and evidence after communicating with the evaluating therapist and documenting communication
- Implement patient-centered, occupation-based intervention plans
- Plan treatment activities around patients’ and families’ functional and emotional needs
- Adapt activities for physical, cognitive, and behavioral limitations
- Collaborate with patients, families, significant others, occupational therapists, and healthcare providers
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers
- Produce clear, objective, accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in quality-of-service activities
- Provide occupational therapy interventions based on the evaluating OT’s plan of care
- Complete elbow, wrist, and hand range-of-motion measurements
- Train patients on activities of daily living, including dressing and cooking skills
- Complete daily documentation and charging in the therapy EMR
- Communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations to referring providers
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant
- Ability to follow and implement an occupational therapist’s plan of care
- Ability to adapt interventions to patients’ physical, cognitive, and behavioral limitations
- Ability to complete range-of-motion measurements of the elbow, wrist, and hand
- Ability to train patients in activities of daily living, including dressing and cooking skills
- Ability to complete documentation and charging in a therapy EMR
- Ability to communicate patient progress and treatment recommendations to referring providers
- Availability for one weekend per month
- Availability for one summer and one winter holiday per year
Demonstrates expertise in implementing patient-centered, occupation-based intervention plans while effectively communicating with patients, families, and healthcare providers. Proficient in clinical documentation and adapting treatment based on patient needs and responses.
