Role Overview

The OB/OR Technician plays a vital role in the perioperative team, assisting Providers and Registered Nurses during intraoperative procedures in Labor and Delivery and the Operating Room. They support patient care, maintain a sterile environment, and facilitate communication among staff, patients, visitors, and medical personnel.

• Applying aseptic techniques and maintaining sterility during procedures.
• Assisting with preparation of the patient, sterile field, and instrumentation.
• Performs instrument counts, room turnover, and equipment maintenance.
• Operating stapling devices under supervision and preparing instruments for sterilization.
• Providing patient support such as venipuncture, vital signs, specimen collection, and transporting samples.
• Ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment adhering to safety and legal standards.

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.
• Completion of Surgical Technology or related experience such as CNA, military medical training, or nursing clinical experience.
• Knowledge of asepsis, sterile techniques, and patient care specific to obstetrical populations.
• Ability to assist during operative procedures, operate sterilization equipment, and perform technical tasks.
