Children’s Ministry Director (Part-Time Role)

Children's Ministry (Nursery–5th Grade)

Position Summary:

The Children’s Ministry Director provides hands‑on leadership for all aspects of Grace Church’s Children’s Ministry environments (Nursery through 5th Grade). Working under the direction of the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries, this person ensures a welcoming, safe, and gospel-centered space for kids while equipping and encouraging a team of volunteers to run effective ministry for the building up of kids and families at Grace Church.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish a Jesus-like disciplemaking culture in the Family Ministry and its leadership team by modeling relational discipleship.
  • Communicate direction clearly, share stories of impact, and celebrate ministry wins with the church family and leadership.
  • Build, train, and empower teams of volunteers to serve with clarity, accountability, and encouragement; maintaining an effective ministry structure for these teams to operate from.
  • Engage parents and families to encourage discipleship and support kids’ next steps in faith.
  • Develop and implement effective programs that encourage kids’ discipleship and faith development throughout the week.
  • Ensure the families of Grace Church are given solid Biblical teaching in line with the stated beliefs and doctrine of Grace Church, overseeing and distributing an effective curriculum in alignment with the ministry vision.
  • Maintain child protection processes and security protocols related to the Grace Kids teams and programs, including an effective check‑in system.
  • Develop and steward the resources of the ministry, including an annual ministry budget, ensuring alignment with the church’s vision, in partnership with the Family Pastor.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of quarterly kids/family special events.
  • Participate in weekly Grace staff meetings and monthly family ministry team meetings, contributing to planning as needed.
  • Actively participate in the life of the Grace Church congregation, including worshipping in service on Sunday mornings and contributing as a member of the church.

  • Demonstrates a vibrant and consistent relationship with Jesus, modeling Christlike character and alignment with the church’s beliefs.
  • Willing to be an active and involved formal member of Grace Church.
  • Experience working with children or in children’s ministry (paid or volunteer).
  • Reliable, organized, and able to work well with teams.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Ability to engage kids as a teacher.
  • Heart for serving children and supporting volunteers.

Hours & Compensation
  • 25 hours/week, including Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
  • Compensation based on experience; hourly rate available upon request.
Evaluation & Support
  • Regular meetings with the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries for ministry evaluation, planning, and support.
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities within and outside of Grace staff.
  • Feedback and evaluation based on volunteer health, program readiness, and parent feedback.
