Job Summary: The Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool) is dedicated to providing exceptional care through a Nursing Professional Practice Model. Nurses in this unit deliver specialized medical and nursing care across various inpatient units, including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with staff utilizing the latest technology and equipment to care for patients with conditions such as coronary artery disease, strokes, cancer, post-surgical care, and more.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations.
- Experience managing care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and modifying patient care plans.
- Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects.
- Experience preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care.
- Proficiency in IV venipuncture and blood administration.
- Ability to document care accurately using EMR.
- Experience educating patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in professional development of peers.
- Strong conflict management and professional communication skills.
- Critical thinking skills to assess patient status and take appropriate action.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
- Commitment to patient safety and adherence to safety standards, including fall precautions and pressure ulcer prevention.
- Experience completing bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintaining updated patient communication boards.
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriately and follow up on delegated responsibilities.
Required Education:
- College diploma in nursing.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- BLS (AHA).
- IL Nursing License.
