Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) for a 30-bed oncology unit. The role offers a 10,000 sign‑on bonus for RN’s willing to commit one year to the position. Patients are 18 years and older and the nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 4‑6 to 1.
Key Responsibilities- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an individualized plan of care in accordance with unit standards.
- Implement and modify the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures based on continuous evaluation of patient needs.
- Perform head‑to‑toe assessments, start IVs, insert NG tubes, dressing changes, administer medications, and insert foley catheters.
- Access and maintain Mediports and other chemotherapy ports throughout the shift.
- Assist with the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy for patients on and off the oncology unit.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation to support interdisciplinary care and meet quarterly chart audit standards.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families and communicate effectively within the healthcare team.
- Identify and report safety hazards or incidents to uphold patient and employee safety.
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Illinois, issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
- Knowledge of oncology nursing skills, including inpatient chemotherapy, radiation, palliative care, and end‑of‑life care.
- Experience with general medical nursing tasks such as IV therapy, NG tube insertion, catheter care, and wound dressing.
- Ability to work within a 4‑6 patient per RN ratio and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
