RN - Infusion​/Pediatrics; Inpatient

Overview

The Outpatient Infusion Department/Pediatric Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model; we believe in caring relationships with our patients, families, community, and colleagues to provide exceptional care. Our dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners practice in an eleven bed inpatient unit that is combined with a 24/7 outpatient infusion department. All care is delivered by a highly‑trained staff utilizing the most current technology and equipment.

The unit is fast‑paced, exciting, and always evolving—as RNs care for patients ranging from newborns to adults and provide infusion treatments such as blood products, specialty medications, chemotherapy, hydration, and antibiotics.

• Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
• National Nursing Certification within 3 years – varies.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA).
• College Diploma:
  Nursing.
• Relevant work experience.

• Perform all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
• Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
• Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and that is based on patient and family needs.
• Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
• Modify plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
• Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
• Communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues.
• Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers, and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
• Identify own learning needs and take initiative to begin an appropriate solution.
• Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
• Monitor intake and output of all pediatric patient assignments.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, administer medications using proper bar code scanning.
• Notify appropriate provider with high‑alert lab results.
• Serve as a mandated reporter for all suspected abuse/neglect cases.

The compensation range for this position is $36.8 per hour – $59.89 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
