American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring EPIC charting experience and the ability to float across multiple inpatient units and facilities.
Requirements- Active IL RN license (temporary license accepted)
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- College diploma or degree in nursing required
- Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Skilled in IV venipuncture, blood administration, medication administration, and post-operative care
- Strong critical thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Clinical Resource Unit (float pool) providing care across Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab units
- Cares for diverse patient populations including acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
- Manages diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, CHF, stroke, cancer, cellulitis, and post-surgical patients
- Night shift schedule, 7:00PM-7:30AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
- Rotating weekend and holiday coverage required
- May float to additional facilities including Carle Health Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Carle Health Pekin Hospital, and Carle Health Proctor Hospital
- Uses EPIC EMR for documentation
- Delegates and validates completion of care tasks assigned to healthcare team members
- Performs patient assessments, care planning, admission/discharge processes, and hourly rounding
- Administers medications following the 5 Rights of medication administration
- Maintains patient safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety
- Conducts bedside shift reports and maintains patient communication boards
- Educates patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates not accepted
- RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract
- Contingent workers may not remain on assignment longer than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
