This is a new position for our practice, and we are thrilled about the opportunity to provide an additional level of care and accessibility to pets and their families throughout the Normal-Bloomington community.

About the Opportunity

This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys the variety, pace, and problem-solving that comes with urgent care medicine. You’ll have the opportunity to treat patients who need timely medical attention while working alongside a supportive veterinary team committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care.

Because this is a newly created position, the incoming veterinarian will also have the exciting opportunity to help us grow and shape our urgent care services as we expand this offering for local pet owners.

Schedule

Our preferred schedule is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, allowing us to provide greater access to veterinary care during times when pet owners often have fewer options available.

However, we understand that the right schedule looks different for every veterinarian. We are open to discussing and negotiating alternative schedules and encourage interested candidates to connect with us even if the preferred weekend schedule does not perfectly fit their needs.

Our goal is to find the right veterinarian for the team while creating a schedule that supports both the needs of our community and a sustainable work-life balance.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a veterinarian who:

  • Enjoys urgent care, same-day cases, and a diverse medical caseload
  • Is comfortable evaluating and stabilizing sick and injured patients
  • Values collaboration and communication with both clients and team members
  • Brings a compassionate, practical approach to patient care
  • Is excited about helping develop and grow a new service within an established practice
  • Holds, or is eligible to obtain, an Illinois veterinary license

Urgent care or emergency experience is certainly welcomed, but we are also interested in speaking with veterinarians who have a strong general practice background and are excited to expand their urgent care skills.

Why Smart Vet?

At Smart Vet, this new urgent care position represents more than simply adding another doctor to the schedule. It is an opportunity to expand access to veterinary care in our community, support local pet owners when unexpected medical needs arise, and continue building the services our practice can provide.

For the veterinarian joining us, it is also a unique opportunity to step into a newly developed role and have a voice in how urgent care at Smart Vet continues to grow.
