The Cash Office Clerk is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of all store cash handling and accounting functions. This position supports front‑end operations by balancing cash drawers, reconciling daily financial transactions, processing deposits, managing lottery and postal inventory, and ensuring compliance with company cash handling and security procedures.
The Cash Office Clerk works independently with a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail while helping ensure a safe and efficient operation for customers and team members.

What You'll be Doing- Complete daily safe counts and reconcile cash balances.
- Balance cash drawers, service desk tills, department tills, and front‑end registers.
- Investigate and report overages, shortages, and discrepancies.
- Prepare and process daily cash and check deposits.
- Generate and review daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Process register and self‑checkout cash pickups and loans.
- Maintain accurate records of all cash office transactions.
- Balance and maintain lottery inventory and reports.
- Complete postal inventory counts and ordering activities.
- Place and receive cash, coin, postal, and supply orders.
- Process coupons, money orders, gift card transactions, donation requests, paid‑ins, and paid‑outs.
- Follow all Cash Office security, cash handling, and recordkeeping standards.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with company policies and loss prevention procedures.
- Communicate effectively with store leadership regarding financial discrepancies, audit findings, or operational concerns.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
- Provide support to front‑end operations as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and retail operating systems.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Commitment to following company policies, procedures, and security standards.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Strong listening and communications skills, face‑to‑face and virtually.
- Willingness to learn or existing familiarity with job-specific technology.
- Problem‑solving competence and eagerness to troubleshoot when necessary.
- Desire to work with customers.
- Previous retail or customer experience preferred but not required.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Friendly outgoing attitude.
- Ability to operate cashier register system.
- Previous retail cash office, bookkeeping, cashiering, banking, or accounting experience.
- Experience handling large sums of cash.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Salary range: $15.00 - $16.50
