In this role, you will focus on improving robotic processes in our paint shop through troubleshooting, programming, and critical-thinking. We are hiring for all levels of Automation Technicians. General requirements for the positions follow, but not all inclusive of all levels to technician. This opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and will report directly to the Lead Paint Engineer.

• Understand and troubleshoot fluid delivery systems
• Demonstrate application with understanding the science of appearance and ability to change pathing and brushes to repond to quality issues with utmost sense of urgency and methodical problem solving.
• Must be able to interpret engineering process sheets and apply paint layers to the requirements.
• Create standard AM/PM and operating documentation.
• Perform all required and advanced PM’s of application equipment.
• Remain in assigned work area unless otherwise requested to support another zone
• Complete all shift communications before end of shift, i.e. Communication emails, Paint schedule changes, and Equipment repair
• Perform QC checks including dehydration checks, colorimeter, wavescan, PELT, and elcometer
• Perform Robot cleaning – Requires accessing the robot zone, LOTO, may have to step on ladder/step stools, walk on sticky and uneven grating.
• Perform bell cup cleaning & inspections
  - Requires accessing the robot zone, LOTO, walk on sticky and uneven grating.
• Responsible to produce quality with the minimum amount of material.
• Perform program modifications to recover from DT.
• In-depth understanding of ABB robots and use the troubleshooting guides and Rob View editing.
• Independently respond to quality defect countermeasures and robot DT
• Good understanding of DCL and cartridge systems as well as electrostatic applicators.
• Quarterly feedback to TM's, TC's and Quality group
• Robot fault recovery
  - Requires accessing the robot zone with teach pendant and manipulate robot in “teach mode” (live robot) – walk on sticky and uneven grating.
• Complete assigned Robot PM's
  - Requires accessing the robot zone, LOTO, may have to step on ladder/step stools, walk on sticky and uneven grating.
• Support line during lunch and breaks
• Operate lift trucks as required

• Can read and understand Work instructions.

• Understands FIFO principles of stock rotation and shelf life.
• Capable of working with other groups (quality, maintenance, engineering) to achieve the goals of Rivian.
• Minimum of 1 year experience programming industrial robots. Rivian will provide ABB specific training or have 5+ years manually painting automotive parts.
• Must demonstrate competence of ABB simulation software within 1 year of being in the position. This software knowledge will be required for Rivian to provide future model launch capability in application automation.
