Position: OMU Welcome Center & Event Services Student (Fall)

Pay Range:

Targeted salary of $8.00/hr based on education and experience.

Work Schedule:
  • Shift work - will work around class schedule.
  • Minimum 10 hours/week, maximum of 20 hours/week between the hours of 8 AM – 11 PM, Monday-Friday, Saturday 10AM – 10PM,
  • Sunday: 1PM - 7PM.

Position Introduction:

This position provides event and facility support to members of the OU community, general public, and the Campus Scheduling staff.

Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Staff the OMU Welcome Center at the Oklahoma Memorial Union Greets (via phone and in-person) visitors and customers in a courteous manner, determining their needs and directing them appropriately
  • Provides day-of event service needs for customers before and during the event to:
    • Ensure accuracy of room and services setup, provide A/V assistance, monitor large events as needed
  • Completes frequent building rounds to ensure facility cleanliness and upkeep, reporting any issues found
  • Assists with clerical duties of the Oklahoma Memorial Union and Campus Scheduling, as needed
  • Operates the Lost & Found program at the Oklahoma Memorial Union
  • Attend regular Student Staff meetings and training sessions as assigned
  • Work special event shifts as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned
Required

Education and Experience:
  • Must be currently enrolled in the Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
  • Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
  • Must attach Fall class schedule
  • Must have and maintain a GPA of 2.5
Skills:
  • Experience working in a visible position in a high traffic environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good understanding of general office procedures and clerical tasks
  • Basic computer skills (training on specific programs will be provided)

Previous customer service experience
