Norman, OK, On-site
A growing architectural practice is seeking an accomplished Senior Architectural Drafter to strengthen the technical quality, coordination, and consistency of complex project documentation. This is a highly visible opportunity for an experienced architectural production professional who enjoys solving difficult detailing challenges, improving BIM workflows, and helping project teams identify issues before they become costly field problems. The successful candidate will combine hands‑on production expertise with the ability to raise documentation standards across multiple projects.
ThisRole Offers
- Competitive compensation based on experience and technical capabilities.
- A key technical role with meaningful influence over drawing quality, BIM practices, and project coordination.
- The opportunity to work directly on challenging architectural packages while helping establish more efficient production processes.
- Regular collaboration with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.
- A chance to mentor developing drafting professionals and become a trusted technical resource within the organization.
- Produce and refine technically demanding architectural drawing packages from design development through construction documentation.
- Maintain and improve Revit resources, project templates, content libraries, shared data, and drafting standards to support consistent project delivery.
- Establish well‑organized BIM models for new projects, including work sharing structures, coordinate alignment, reference levels, grids, and consultant links.
- Coordinate architectural models with structural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines, using Navisworks or comparable tools to identify and resolve conflicts.
- Conduct detailed quality reviews of drawing sets, checking cross references, schedules, dimensions, notes, details, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Develop practical BIM procedures and project‑specific modeling guidelines that improve documentation consistency and team efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance on complex wall systems, rated assemblies, building envelopes, transitions, and other constructability‑sensitive details.
- Partner with project leadership, consultants, and contractors to resolve documentation concerns before drawings reach permitting, pricing, or construction.
- Mentor drafting professionals on modeling and documentation practices while supporting model‑driven estimating and quantity information when needed.
- 7 or more years of architectural production experience, including at least 2 years in a standards, coordination, or lead documentation capacity.
- Expert‑level proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated experience using Navisworks or an equivalent platform for model coordination and clash detection.
- Advanced knowledge of building assemblies, fire and smoke rated construction, envelope detailing, and constructability.
- Proven ability to identify drawing, modeling, and interdisciplinary coordination problems before they affect construction.
- Strong command of construction documentation, including the relationships among plans, sections, elevations, schedules, details, and specifications.
- Effective technical communication, problem‑solving, and mentoring skills, with the ability to collaborate across design and construction teams.
- Experience with BIM execution procedures, design‑build environments, Dynamo, Revit API tools, scripting, or similar workflow automation is beneficial.
