Program OverviewThe University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is seeking individuals who are passionate about pursuing a long‑term career in Intercollegiate Athletics, have a drive for excellence, and a commitment to fostering student‑athlete success. Our mission is to promote initiatives that educate, cultivate, and prepare tomorrow's leaders, ensuring access and opportunity for all individuals interested in a career in Intercollegiate Athletics.
The SCPP Graduate Assistantship program equips talented, deserving, and aspiring graduate assistant candidates with comprehensive experience in the field. Embracing principles of inclusive excellence, the program provides opportunities for education, cultivation, and preparation for leadership roles in athletic administration.
Program DetailsEligibility
:
The assistantship is available to qualified graduate students admitted to the University of Oklahoma graduate studies program. Candidates must be interested in furthering their education, show commitment to fostering opportunity, and express a desire to pursue a career in intercollegiate athletics. Most participants choose the Adult & Higher Education, Intercollegiate Athletics Administration Graduate Degree program through the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education.
Selection is based on undergraduate experience, extracurricular activities, prior job experience, and the candidate’s commitment to contributing to the field of athletic administration.
Duration
:
Two‑year program (four semesters) beginning in August of each academic year. The program is designed to rotate through various areas of the athletic department.
Rotations and Administrative Options
:
Academics, Athletic Medicine, Communications, Compliance, Digital Media, Equipment, Event Management, Internal Operations, Marketing, Licensing & Branding, Nutrition, People & Culture, Psychological Resources for OU Students (PROS), Student Athlete Well‑Being, Sooner Club, Sooner Vision, Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, Ticket Office. Sports‑specific rotations will be reviewed case‑by‑case for second‑year students.

Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree and current or incoming full‑time OU Graduate Student status. Applicants need not be admitted into the Graduate College to apply, but enrollment will be verified before any offer is extended. Applicants must also attach an OU class schedule or a document detailing admission plans.

Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license may be required for specific assignments
