Description

The School of Sustainable Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering (SCBME) in the Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, with expected start date of August 2026. We are especially interested in applicants with research activities in catalysis for energy production and production of high value derivatives from fossil fuels.

The prospective candidate is expected to complement SCBME's research portfolio on heterogeneous catalysis, separations, soft materials design, and colloidal engineering. The successful candidate will be synergistic to ongoing research initiatives within the Gallogly College of Engineering (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).), with strategic university-wide priorities such as environmental and energy sustainability, and with cross-cutting initiatives such as the Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Institute (OADI), the Data Institute for Societal Change (DISC) and the Institute for Community and Society Transformation (ICAST).

The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses and to demonstrate a commitment to excellent and innovative instruction. Expectations include collaboration with other faculty members and effective mentoring of students with an ethos of care and support.

Responsibilities
  • Pursue and develop research program in catalysis for energy production and production of high value derivatives from fossil fuels, and contribute to SCBME's portfolio on heterogeneous catalysis, separations, soft materials design, and colloidal engineering.
  • Collaborate with faculty and engage in interdisciplinary research that aligns with university initiatives and convergence research opportunities.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and demonstrate a commitment to innovative instruction.
  • Mentor students and foster an ethos of care and support.
Qualifications
  • Tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an expected start date of August 2026.
  • Research activities in catalysis for energy production and production of high value derivatives from fossil fuels, complemented by SCBME’s research areas.
  • Ability to engage in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and pursue convergence funding opportunities related to the described research areas.
