Description

The Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for an Unranked Renewable Term faculty position focused on teaching.

To meet the needs of the department, we seek an experienced educator with a passion for teaching to join the school's faculty in an unranked renewable term appointment as Instructor (completed M.S.) or Lecturer (completed Ph.D.) in August 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success instructing undergraduate students, especially in introductory physics and astronomy courses. The candidate will have an in-load of 4:4 or equivalent and will be expected to participate in intramural and extramural service.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in physics or astronomy, or a related discipline at the time of appointment and possess a record of experience indicating high potential for teaching excellence at the University of Oklahoma.

The teaching document should describe the candidate's instructional and mentorship experiences and plans/goals for teaching at OU (including existing and/or proposed courses).

The cover letter should include the candidate's approach to service (e.g., a vision for internal service to the academic unit, the College and the University, and/or for external service to our scientific community and other stakeholders).
