Position Introduction:

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Advocacy & Education, the Lead Student Program Coordinator of Advocacy & Education supports the mission of the University of Oklahoma by promoting student well-being, safety, and personal development through prevention education and outreach. This position provides direct supervision and leadership to four Education & Outreach Coordinators who oversee the following topic areas:
  • Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse Prevention
  • Gender-Based Violence Prevention
  • Hazing Prevention
  • Sexual Health and General Wellness
The Lead Student Program Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the Office of Advocacy & Education and campus partners across Student Affairs and the broader university community. This includes collaboration with areas such as Fraternity & Sorority Programs and Services, Housing and Residence Life, Student Life, Athletics, and other departments engaged in fostering a healthy and safe campus culture.

Duties of this position will Include:
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate four Education & Outreach Coordinators overseeing wellness and prevention topic areas.
  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure alignment of outreach and education initiatives with departmental and university goals.
  • Oversee prevention education programs, trainings, workshops, and campaigns promoting health, safety, and well-being.
  • Lead assessment and data-informed planning through key performance indicators and program evaluation.
  • Serve as primary liaison to Student Affairs units such as Fraternity & Sorority Programs, Housing, and Student Life.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with campus and community stakeholders to strengthen prevention efforts.
  • Oversee marketing, communications, and social media strategies for departmental outreach.
  • Support recruitment, training, and supervision of Peer Educators and student staff.
  • Assist the Director with strategic planning, budgeting, and operational management.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation for OU Advocates, the University's 24/7 confidential advocacy service.
Other skills:

Essential Duties:

Supervision & Functional Leadership
  • Provide lead supervision, coaching, and performance feedback for four Education & Outreach Coordinators.
  • Coordinate and guide outreach, education, and prevention initiatives to ensure alignment with the mission of the Office of Advocacy and Education (OAE) and university strategic priorities (Lead ON).
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of trainings, workshops, campaigns, and outreach events focused on prevention education and awareness.
  • Support staff in developing and assessing student learning outcomes for trainings, workshops, and peer education initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, accessibility, and relevance across educational programs, curricula, and materials.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-functioning team environment that supports prevention best practices and professional development.
Program Coordination & Assessment
  • Coordinate prevention education efforts across OAE topic areas to support a cohesive and evidence-informed approach.
  • Lead program assessment activities, including tracking key metrics, coordinating data collection, and supporting evaluation of program outcomes and effectiveness.
