Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Advocacy & Education, the Lead Student Program Coordinator of Advocacy & Education supports the mission of the University of Oklahoma by promoting student well‑being, safety, and personal development through prevention education and outreach. This position provides direct supervision and leadership to four Education & Outreach Coordinators who oversee the following topic areas:

  • Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse Prevention
  • Gender-Based Violence Prevention
  • Hazing Prevention
  • Sexual Health and General Wellness

The Lead Student Program Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the Office of Advocacy & Education and campus partners across Student Affairs and the broader university community. This includes collaboration with areas such as Fraternity & Sorority Programs and Services, Housing and Residence Life, Student Life, Athletics, and other departments engaged in fostering a healthy and safe campus culture.

Duties of this position will Include
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate four Education & Outreach Coordinators overseeing wellness and prevention topic areas.
  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure alignment of outreach and education initiatives with departmental and university goals.
  • Oversee prevention education programs, trainings, workshops, and campaigns promoting health, safety, and well‑being.
  • Lead assessment and data‑informed planning through key performance indicators and program evaluation.
  • Serve as primary liaison to Student Affairs units such as Fraternity & Sorority Programs, Housing, and Student Life.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with campus and community stakeholders to strengthen prevention efforts.
  • Oversee marketing, communications, and social media strategies for departmental outreach.
  • Support recruitment, training, and supervision of Peer Educators and student staff.
  • Assist the Director with strategic planning, budgeting, and operational management.
  • Participate in after‑hours on‑call rotation for OU Advocates, the University's 24/7 confidential advocacy service.

Essential Duties Supervision & Functional Leadership
  • Provide lead supervision, coaching, and performance feedback for four Education & Outreach Coordinators.
  • Coordinate and guide outreach, education, and prevention initiatives to ensure alignment with the mission of the Office of Advocacy and Education (OAE) and university strategic priorities (Lead ON).
