Provide engaging instruction in assigned subject areas, including classroom theory and hands-on laboratory training. Ensure instruction aligns with FAA standards and current industry best practices. Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and course documentation. Support a safe, organized, and effective classroom and lab environment. Participate in meetings, training, and professional development as assigned.
QualificationsEducation:
Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
Special Knowledge, Skill or Ability:
Working knowledge of FAA regulations and guidance material applicable to aircraft maintenance, including AC 43.13 and relevant sections of 14 CFR. Strong understanding of aircraft structural repair, system operation, inspection procedures, and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to develop and update lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with FAA standards and industry expectations. Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to adult learners in both classroom and hands-on lab environments.
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to maintain a safe learning environment and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and materials. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and program leadership.
Experience:
Minimum of 35 years of industry experience in Avionics, aircraft electrical systems, maintenance, or related fields. Experience working with aircraft electronics, communication and navigation systems, wiring practices, and diagnostic equipment. Demonstrated experience in aircraft structures (sheet metal), power systems, ECS, fuel systems, hydraulics, or related aircraft systems. Prior teaching or training experience preferred. Experience developing or revising technical curriculum is preferred.
