The Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma seeks outstanding applicants to apply for a renewable term instructor position to join our nationally recognized Advertising program. The appointment will begin in August 2023.
We are looking for an energetic colleague with strong professional networks and experience in strategic communication to help teach courses centered on a range of advertising skills. The successful candidate should have an outstanding advertising track record and some teaching experience at the university level would be helpful. This person will participate in ongoing course development and teach a 4/4 load of advertising courses that may include audio/video content creation, digital behaviors, digital communications, UX/UI design, project management and web design.
This is a non-tenure-track position.
This person will teach four courses per semester (Fall and Spring), with potential options for summer teaching. This position will help prepare students in both skills and conceptual learning and take an active part in the growth of the College through superior teaching, engaged mentoring, innovative course development, and strong professional engagement through consulting, presentations, and involvement in nationally recognized professional organizations like the American Advertising Federation (AAF), AAAA’s (4A’s), and the American Marketing Association (AMA).
In addition to teaching, this new colleague will serve as a faculty advisor/sponsor to OU’s AAF National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team.
Advertising partners with the Public Relations program within the College to prepare students for careers in all areas of strategic communication and beyond. The candidate will join a highly engaged and well-respected Advertising faculty who are award-winning practitioners, researchers, and instructors.
