Work ScheduleScholars will work on average approximately 7 hours per week. They are required to spend 3 hrs./wk. attending all meetings of their section. Outside of class-time they will spend approximately 4 hrs./wk.

Position IntroductionThe Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences First Year Experience Program seeks Undergraduate Teaching Scholars for the college’s new Gateway to the Humanities course (CAS 1573). Scholars will be assigned to a section of the course and will work closely with the professor to contribute to the students’ intellectual and personal growth. CAS 1573 fulfills the First Year Experience General Education – Core V requirement and is designed to give in-coming freshmen (and transfer students) an orientation to the Humanities as an area of study h section will have an enrollment cap of 25 students and will focus on discussion.
The course will cover materials from across the Humanities, including texts (poems; essays; stories; and other genres) and videos (documentaries, television shows, and feature films).
- Must be currently enrolled in the Fall 2026 Term as an undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.

- Writing Sample (Existing 3 pp. assignment from a past or current college Humanities class).
- Commenting on discussion posts.
- Keeping track of students’ work.
- Completing other course-related tasks the professor assigns.
- Meeting with students individually or in groups, to help them understand course materials, ideas covered in the course, and course assignments.
- Performing peer mentor duties, serving as a guide for students in their section.
- Attending all meetings of the assigned section of CAS 1573.
- Academically motivated, well-organized, and committed to helping younger students flourish.
- Professional attitude and responsibility for completing tasks accurately and timely.
- Good understanding of general student success skills and ability to convey them to others.
- Ability to understand and follow a course schedule and requirements.
- Ability to seek clarification of assignments.
- Openness to respectfully engage with course materials and other students' ideas.
- Readiness to revise written work on the basis of feedback.
- Ability to identify and direct students to various campus resources and opportunities.
- Junior or senior standing in Fall 2026 (60 hours completed).
- Humanities major.
- Prior experience with tutoring or other instructional work.
