Maintenance and Reliability Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to join our team at the Bosch Home Comfort manufacturing facility in Norman, Oklahoma. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the long-term reliability, availability, and cost-effectiveness of our production equipment. You will focus on proactive lifecycle management, risk mitigation, and data-driven decision making to minimize downtime, control costs, and extend the useful life of critical manufacturing assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and execution of Machine Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA) for new and existing equipment to identify potential failure modes, assess risks, and implement preventive measures.
- Performing spare parts and obsolescence analysis to ensure critical components are available while optimizing inventory levels and identifying obsolete or end-of-support parts.
- Maintaining and continuously improving the equipment end-of-life (EOL) program, including forecasting equipment retirement, planning replacements or upgrades, and documenting lifecycle status.
- Conducting analytics and cost-benefit evaluations for "buy vs. refurbish" decisions on production equipment, incorporating factors such as reliability data, maintenance history, total cost of ownership (TCO), and production impact.
- Developing and generating equipment performance reporting, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), availability trends, and other key reliability metrics.
- Collaborating with production, engineering, and procurement teams to develop and execute equipment lifecycle strategies that support manufacturing goals.
- Supporting root cause analysis for major equipment failures and integrating findings into MFMEA and EOL planning.
- Working with suppliers and internal teams on technical evaluations for spare parts, refurbishment options, and replacement equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with Bosch standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements in all maintenance and reliability activities.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives in equipment reliability and maintenance processes using data analytics and risk-based approaches.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Two years of experience in maintenance engineering, reliability engineering, or equipment lifecycle management in a manufacturing environment (preferably in automotive, HVAC, or high-volume assembly).
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with MFMEA/FMEA methodology.
- Proven experience in spare parts management, obsolescence planning, and equipment end-of-life programs.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, SAP, and CMMS/ERP systems).
- Solid understanding of reliability concepts (OEE, MTBF, MTTR, Weibull analysis, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working in a Bosch production system or lean manufacturing environment.
- Certification in reliability engineering (CRE) or maintenance management (CMRP) is a plus.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, etc.).
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts and data-driven maintenance strategies.
- Experience with SAP PM module or other advanced CMMS systems.
