Job Summary
Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Accountant II performs advanced technical accounting to ensure accurate agency records. This includes the maintenance of appropriate accounts, ledgers, journals, registers, and other financial records, reconciliation of various financial statements and documents, processing of various transactions for payment of invoices or expense vouchers, and the maintenance and processing of payroll data. The Accountant II is also responsible for preparing routine or standard reports concerning financial operations and data.
CompensationSalary range is $48,260 to $54,293 depending on education and experience.

- Reviews, analyzes and presents financial data, including revenue projections and expenditure reports, to determine funding requirements.
- Prepares financial statements, reports of operations, expenditure reports, statistical data, and other information concerning financial requirements; assists in gathering and reviewing data for preparation of budget work programs.
- Maintains various ledgers, journals, registers and other fiscal records; allocates revenues to appropriate functions; classifies expenditures and posts to various accounts as required.
- Reviews and processes expense vouchers, invoices, and other fiscal documents for payment; reconciles various financial reports and other data concerning fiscal operations.
- Determines payroll requirements; maintains payroll data; prepares and processes monthly payrolls.
- Participates in the procurement process by purchasing required supplies and services and coordinating travel arrangements using a state purchasing card. Provides additional support for finance-related tasks as needed to assist with overall agency operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or a closely related field plus one year of experience in performing professional accounting; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of bookkeeping for each year of the required degree.
- Demonstrated experience using the Oracle Peoplesoft financial system.
- Knowledge of State of Oklahoma purchasing laws, rules, and procedures.
- Certified Procurement Officer, Level One certification.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories.
- Knowledge of financial statements and reports; of accounting ledgers and journals.
- Knowledge of computer technology related to accounting systems.
- Ability to prepare basic financial statements and reports.
- Ability to review and analyze financial information work independently and perform a wide range of technical accounting functions.
- Ability to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals.
