Job Description

This position is located in the Special Victims Unit within the Investigative Services Division.

This position is statewide.

This position is grant-funded.

Major Work Duties
  • Interact with victims and families, who have experienced violent crime, assist them with navigating the justice system, while coordinating the appropriate services.
  • Develop and present standardized, state-wide best practices training to Victim Services Advocates. Host or coordinate victim's support meetings and symposiums.
  • Work with other victim's services programs with the District Attorney's, tribes and United States Attorney's Office.
  • Educate OSBI agents, criminalists and other OSBI teams, regarding OSBI victim's support services team.
  • Develop, collect and distribute the appropriate materials to provide to victims and families, in order to ensure they have to information needed to receive support services. Follow up with victims and families to ensure they are receiving the services they are in need of.
Typical Functions
  • Plans, organizes, directs/manages a component of an agency or institutional program or a major division, program, or function established to accomplish a basic goal or mission of the agency.
  • Interprets and advises agency personnel and the general public on departmental rules, regulations and laws governing the operation of the agency, division or department program.
  • Prepares administrative, statistical and/or fiscal documents pertaining to departmental activity.
  • Provides direction to staff in planning, promoting, and implementing programs in accordance with agency policies and goals.
  • Advises on future resource requirements, priorities for programs and activities; estimates timetables for accomplishing assigned activities; develops policies, rules, and regulations consistent with state and federal laws pertaining to the administration of programs.
  • Plans, develops and conducts training, seminars, meetings, or clinics as required; represents the agency at meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Drafts policies and procedures and develops contract or grant proposals.
  • Reviews proposed legislation and recommends changes; may act as legislative liaison.

Responsibilities may include program responsibilities, performing functions in the areas of program management and development, providing guidance for operations and services, performing program planning, development and evaluation activities, and organizing and coordinating program services and activities.

Incumbents will be expected to perform assigned duties at all levels of complexity and will provide guidance and training to lower-level and other appropriate staff.
