Nutrition Technician

Days Monday - Friday 8am-5pm

Hours/week: 40 hours/week

Pay & Benefits

  • Pay: $24.00/hour
  • 11 Federal Holidays paid out at $0.96 additionally for every hours worked up to 40 hours weekly

What You'll Do

  • Interview patients and obtain diet histories
  • Review medical charts for dietetic and nutritional information
  • Assist with nutritional assessments using standardized procedures (e.g., anthropometric measurements, biochemical tests, dietary intake review)
  • Support the nutrition therapist/dietitian in determining appropriate nutritional care plans
  • Provide individual diet instructions for normal and modified diets as directed
  • Conduct classes on general nutrition and consumer education
  • Maintain records and prepare reports

What You Need

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent WITH two years of supervised experience under a dietitian/nutrition therapist (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Associate's degree in dietetic technology/closely related field OR two years of supervised experience under a dietitian/nutrition therapist (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition principles, sanitation, and food-handling practices
  • Ability to follow written and oral medical and dietetic instructions
Preferred
  • Experience in a hospital, school, public health department, institutional, or facility setting
  • Ability to identify dietary deficiencies in menus and design special diets for review by a nutrition therapist

About the Assignment You will support a nutrition and dietetic service unit by assisting with nutritional assessments, patient education, documentation, and collaboration with interdisciplinary clinical staff (e.g., doctors, nurses, and allied health personnel) to address dietary needs and concerns.
